Your Story as a Healing Tool.

Every one of us carries a story. It’s not just a timeline of events, it’s what you’ve come through, what you’ve learned, what you’ve forgiven and how you’ve changed along the way.

So many of us look back at our stories and only see the parts that hurt, the things we wish hadn’t happened or what we wish we’d done differently. Especially in midlife, it can feel like those old moments still define us, but what if there’s more to your story than just what went wrong?

What if it holds moments of strength you haven’t noticed, or lessons that made you who you are today?

This is where reframing comes in. Instead of only asking, why did this happen to me, we can ask…

What did I survive? What did I learn? What does this say about what I value?

It’s not about denying what happened or pretending everything is fine, it’s about looking for meaning and growth, so you don’t stay stuck in the same old patterns. Think of your story in two layers…

  • The Ground Story…the facts of what happened, the events you can name.

  • The Sky Story…what rises above it.  What those experiences taught you, how they changed you and how they connect you to others who’ve been through something similar.

When you start exploring your sky story you see that your experience isn’t something you need to hide or feel ashamed of, it’s something that can help you understand yourself better and help others feel less alone.

Many of the limiting beliefs we carry come from old stories we never questioned…

I’m not enough. I have to do it all myself. I’ll only be loved if I keep it together.

But your story isn’t finished. It’s still being written, and you get to decide how you tell it from here on out.

Midlife is actually a powerful time to do this work. You’ve lived enough to see patterns. You’ve felt the weight of expectations. But you also have the wisdom to question those expectations and choose differently.

You can look back and recognise what you’ve survived and give yourself credit for it. You can look ahead and ask what kind of life you want now, instead of assuming you’re too old or it’s too late.

Sharing your truth, even just with yourself, is a brave step. Finding moments of meaning, peace or even humour in your story is how you start to heal and create real change. Your experiences don’t have to keep you stuck; they can be the very thing that helps you grow into who you want to be.

About Me

Today I wake up feeling clear, steady and actually excited about the day ahead. But when perimenopause hit I felt overwhelmed, exhausted and full of self-doubt. I know how it feels when confidence disappears, anxiety takes over and you wonder where you went.

That’s why I do this work. Hypnotherapy, self-hypnosis and breathwork changed everything for me, not just in how I think, but in how I feel every day.

Now, as a certified Hypnotherapist, Counsellor and Breathwork Practitioner, I have spent years helping midlife women do the same.
